An old bomb from the World War II era exploded in the Germany’s Euskirchen town near Bonn late last evening which has killed a
construction worker at the site.
This construction worker was using his mechanical digger
which was also dislodged itself while the bomb exploded. It has also killed
eight of his co-workers as well.
The TV reports from the site showing the twisted wreckage of
the digger’s cabin and a nearby cabin whose windows and doors are blown out by
the blast.
The police spokesman Norbet Hardt told reporters that during
the excavations the digger found a wartime bomb which got exploded and the
driver got killed.
He even added that several other people who were working near
the digger also got hurt out of which two are seriously injured where six
others have light injuries.
The blast was so strong that it has created a significant
damage even in the neighboring streets where the glass and the garage doors were
blown out.
Every year hundreds of wartime bombs still get uncovered in
the Germany
but most of them get successfully detonated.
As per the interior ministry it had defused 706 bombs in 2012
out of which 239 were weighted more than 50 kilos.
