The scandal in the Spanish Royal Family has deepened. The
youngest daughter of Spain’s
King, Juan Carlos was charged with a tax fraud and money laundering by a Judge
today.
The Judge admitted that there is enough evidence to say that
she might have committed crimes. As a fall out of this, Princess Cristina, 48
was summoned to appear in court on 8th March this year.
The magistrate from Palma de Mallorca magistrate Jose Castro
delivered a 200 page ruling just a few minutes before now.
These charges are now part of the investigation of a
corruption scandal which also took the princess’s husband, Inaki Urdangarin in
its arms. He is a former Olympic Handball player and now a businessman.
Urdangarin also facing charges of fraud, tax evasion and
misappropriation of accounts of around six million Euros (US$ 8 million
approx.) via a non profitable sports foundation which organizes sports
conferences.
Although the princess and her husband have publicly denied
these charges but the latest opinion poll done by Sigma Dos suggests that a
large number of Spaniards believe that there is a possible fraud.
In this opinion poll 62 percent of the Spaniards have also
suggested that the aging King must resign.
