The Russian President Vladimir Putin and his US counterpart Barack Obama had hot and cold
relations during last year but that was not enough for the Russian premier to
send warm wishes or greetings to the US President on the new year of
2014.
In a summery of the entire message, the Kremlin said, “The
President of Russia has emphasized that events have demonstrated that the
partnership between the two countries are on the basis of mutual respect. We
are capable of making the world stable and resolve difficult international
problems.
Putin had also sent New Year wishes to many other world
leaders as well and entire summary has been posted on the Kremlin Website. Last
year the relations between two of the biggest world forces became sore due to
asylum given to Edward Snowden by Russia, the National Security
Agency leaker.
On the other hand Obama also criticized Russia’s
anti-gay laws since the Winter Olympics are going to hold next month. The Kremlin
has also said that Putin has also asked for broad cooperation in the sectors of
economics, science and technology and in culture.
