The ambassador of Palestine to the Czech Republic died on
Wednesday evening after suffering severe injuries which was caused by an
explosive booby-trap security system in a safe inside his Prague residence
which he triggered by mistake, as per the police report.
The diplomat's name, Jamal al-Jamal, 56 came to the Czech Republic
only on 11th October. He and his family were just moved into this home
and apparently he was checking the security system of the safe while the
explosion occurred. The police have dismissed any possibility of sabotage or a
terror attack.
The chief surgeon at the Central
Military Hospital
in Prague,
Daniel Langer, said that the ambassador had suffered head, chest and stomach
injuries. The immediate cause of death can be confirmed only after the autopsy
has been done.
A 52 year old unidentified woman was also taken to the
hospital from the diplomat’s residence after she inhaled the fumes came out of
the explosion but then she was released soon afterwards after giving her the
first aid.
The police have blamed the careless handling of the security
system which made the explosion possible and there is no single indication of
any terrorist attack there.
