England’s
Team Director Andy Flower has strongly denied reports that he has issued any
ultimatum to Kevin Pietersen which would curtail the letter’s career.
Some British newspaper claimed that on Tuesday night Andy
Flower said that he is ready to walk out on England if Kevin Pietersen is
retained after this winter’s Ashes tour which has been a disaster.
Via a statement issued by the England and Wales Cricket Board
soon after such allegations came out in the media, Flower described them as
“totally inaccurate.”
After the 5-0 whitewash of the English cricket team by the
old enemy Australia,
Flower himself has publicly shown his desire to continue on his post to build a
new era test side.
In the statement Flower has said that, “Following the
speculation in the media today, I feel it is necessary to reiterate much of what I
said in my recent press conference.”
“It would be sensible and responsible to review the tour in
a calm and logical manner before assessing our options for the future and
planning ahead.”
“I repeat that neither I nor the wider ECB leadership group
have made any decisions as to the future involvement of any individuals in
playing group or in the support staff.”
Kevin Pietersen on the other hand has shown his desire to
bring back the ‘Urn’ home in the 2015 Ashes and then to make a decision on his
retirement.
