The president of the International Olympic Committee Mr.
Thomas Bach has shown his confidence in the Russian authorities that they will
deliver a ‘safe and secure’ Winter Olympics in Russian resort of Sochi in February 2014 despite the two deadly bomb blasts
happened in the nearby city of Volgograd.
Although the threat to the Sochi Games may not look that
great because of an adequate police and military personals have been deployed
in the area but there are enough doubts that those people who have carried the
blasts first at the Railway Station and then inside the trolleybus, which
killed at least 31 people, targeted to disrupt the games.
Despite all, Mr. Thomas Bach is of the opinion that the
Russian government would do everything in their power which will ensure the
security of the athletes and the entire official team who are going to
participate in the Games which would be opened on the 7th February.
Volgograd, which was attacked by two deadly human bombs on
last Sunday and then again on Monday noon, is just 700 kilometers northeast of Sochi, a
Russian resort near the Black Sea.
