The re-elected Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has
ordered her law enforcement agencies along with the Army and administration to
go tough on post poll trouble makers.
The main opposition had boycotted the Sunday’s elections for
the Bangladesh Parliament and since then there is a widespread violence across
the country. These agencies have been asked to maintain the law and order at
any cost.
“My government’s foremost duty is to safeguard people’s
lives and their properties at any cost.” Said Sheikh Haseena in a press
conference in Dhaka.
The press conference was attended by hundreds of local and
foreign journalists. It was held in the open ground of ‘Ganabhaban’ which is
the official residence of the Bangladeshi PM.
Haseena also added that she has given orders to the law
enforcement agencies, the army and the administration to take stern action against
the trouble makers to maintain law and order.
Sheikh Haseena’s ruling party Bangladesh Awami League won
the elections with a thumping ¾ th majority in the 300 seat Bangladesh parliament.
Sheikh Haseena also called upon the international community
to be on the side of her government which will help her to continue the democratic
process in the country.
She even claimed that these elections can’t be called one
sided even when most of the opposition have boycotted them and hence she don’t
see any reason for a possible sanction by the international community.
