As per the ABC news the US
military has come up with a contingency plan for the upcoming Winter Olympics
in Russia’s Sochi.
“If anything goes horribly wrong at the winter Olympics in Sochi, the US
military is prepared.” , a Pentagon official was quoted by ABC news.
This plan is not to provide sea side security or just to
evacuate US citizens only from this Russian winter resort located on the Black Sea where the Olympics are beginning from 7th
February.
The Pentagon Press Secretary, Rear Admiral John Kirby said,
“The United States has offered full support to the Russian government as it
conducts security preparations.”
Kirby elaborated that the support will be provided by both
Air and Naval assets which includes two Navy ships in the Black
Sea. This was requested to the Russian Government already.
On the other side, the Russian officials have said that they
will deploy as many as 40, 000 security officials after the recent terror
bombings in the nearby city of Volgograd.
If there is any need for an emergency evacuation of American
citizens the State Department will lead the effort said the Pentagon official.
Many US
officials have confirmed this news but they have also stressed on the fact that
there are no such orders have been issued as of now.
