Clashes have sparked violence in the Saudi Arabian capital
city of Riyadh
and have left at least two people killed which include one Saudi Citizen. The
government is cracking down heavily on unauthorized workers these days living
in their country illegally. The Riyadh
police has already arrested at least 561 people for the rioting which erupted
yesterday in the southern part of the city. The official Saudi Press Agency has
reported that the violence has left 68 people injured and has damaged 104 cars
as well.
The violent clashes started in the streets of Manfouha area
of Southern Riyadh which has a large Ethiopian
population when authorities came to check about the illegal migrants living in
that neighborhood. These authorities have started to implement new rules and
regulations of Kingdoms labor laws since 4th of this month. Since
that date around 16000 people are arrested and the authorities are keeping on
checking such migrants all across the city home and even business
establishments too.

This initiative is taken by the biggest economical country
of the Arab world to take action against such illegal migrants and to create
jobs for the locals instead. There is a bit of unrest in the people of Saudi Arabia
for not having proper job opportunities because of huge number of foreigners
working in the country. According to the official statistics released by the
government the jobless rate of the local Saudi workers are about 12 percent and
the economic growth has gone down from 5.1 last year to 4.2 percent this year. The
economic growth was 8.6 in the year 2011.
These illegal African immigrants come to Saudi Arabia via border of Yemen.
According to a data more than 9 million foreign workers currently are working
in the country which has came across the Yemenis border illegally. They mainly
participate in the works like building of roads, air ports and creations of new
industrial cities. Saudi Arabia
is the third biggest provider of worker remittances after the United States of America and Russia globally. It has sent around
USD 29.5 billion in the year 2012 according to the World Bank’s records.
