The United States of America
has today admitted that all is not well today in its relationship with Pakistan. The
tension between the two countries has been increased after the death of TTP
(Tahreek – e – Taliban Pakistan)
chief Hakimullah Mehsud by a drone strike in Pakistan, last Friday. Although the
US
has also clarified that the tension is occasional, temporary and has came out
of a ‘misunderstanding’.
The Pakistani government had strongly condemned the attack
on Mehsud by saying that it will harm the peace process with the said group.
Interestingly the attack came just after a week after the Pakistani Prime
Minister Mr. Nawaz Sharif met the US
President Barack Obama in Washington.

On Monday the White House spokesman Mr. Jay Carney said,
“There is inevitability to certain tensions and there will be some
misunderstanding between us and Pakistan
as well. But we are hopeful to make the continuous progress in our
relationships with Pakistan.
We will always try to find new ways to construct our mutual interests like economy
and security.”
Although Mr. Carney did not confirm that the Friday’s
attacks on Hakimullah Mehsud were in line with the above mentioned mutual
interests or not and he just said that Mehsud had a long list of radical
records which includes a failed bombing in the year 2010 at the Times Square in
New York.
The US
Secretary of State Mr. John Kerry also refused to say any further on the drone
strikes and only said that, “I can only say that this man is known for its
targets and killings of many Americans, Afghans and Pakistanis. A massive
number of Pakistanis were also died because of Mehsud and his terrorist
organization.” Mr. Kerry was talking to the reporters in Riyadh.
Although Mr. Kerry did not forgot to add that the
relationship between US and Pakistan
is ‘a very important one’ and his country will welcome further discussion on
the future confrontations which they still will need to cooperate with.
