The Central
African Republic’s interim President Michael
Djotodia finally has succumbed to the international community pressure and has
resigned from his position.
He has been constantly blamed for failing to stop the
inter-religious violence. As the news of his resignation spread across the Central African Republic,
citizens came into the streets and start to celebrate.
Along with Michael Djotodia the Prime Minister Nicolas
Tiangaye has also resigned.
Thousands have been killed and many have been fleed since
Djotodia has come to the power. This infighting has made the memories of the 1994 Rwandan genocide back as France sent hundreds of troops to this former colony
of its.
The person who is going to succeed Djotodia will be announced
by a separate communiqué said the CAR government spokesperson.
Reacting to this the French Foreign Ministry spokesman
Romain Nadal said, “We take the note of this resignation. It is up to the CNT
to decide what happens now.
CNT is better known as Central African Republic’s
Transitional Assembly. The French Foreign Ministry has denied any interference
in any case with CNT’s process.
